Bib Gourmand: good quality, good value cooking.

Had a reservation for my in-laws since they were celebrating their 31st anniversary. From the food to the drinks and service, it was pretty good. We did the chef’s menu I believe it’s called and it’s 60 per person. The food was good and appetizing, the aesthetic is lovely but at the same time it felt pretty.. average? If I’m being honest, I felt like more could’ve been done since they knew the party was celebrating an anniversary. They got a candle on a plate and nothing was really done to make them feel special. You have to pay extra for certain items on the chefs menu but I feel like those things should be included as one of the options. Also the sides aren’t added for free either. Anyway, we paid total 400 for the food and that auto 4% fee that was tacked on. The experience genuinely wasn’t worth that. If I knew this, I would’ve gone somewhere else. Nothing was wrong with the experience per se but it was not special if that makes sense. Feels more casual than celebratory and a bit overpriced. My inlaws were visiting and Coopers Hawk and Fogo de Chao did much more for less. The staff made them feel special simply because they were new to the area and experiencing their restaurants for the first time! I will say, the pita bread (that we had to pay extra for because we wanted more and I DO feel like that should’ve been comped, or the drinks!) held up pretty well even after 3 days. Price per person: $90–100 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

Hi Kevell - Thank you for sharing your feedback, and please extend our team's congratulations to your in-laws on their 31st anniversary. While we are glad you enjoyed the food and atmosphere, we are truly sorry that the celebration felt average and that our hospitality and menu structure fell short of making their milestone feel exceptionally special. We would love the opportunity to learn more and make this right, so please reach out to us directly at info@sifrchicago.com.

Went there without looking at reviews: Overall food was 2.5 at best, service was alright and ambience was the only plus. *Don't get me wrong, I'm all for experimenting and modernizing traditional foods but this place needs to work on their interpretation. Went with the a la carte menu since they insisted the tasting menu potions were very small Hummus and pita: Was the best part. Their interpretation of hummus was amazing along with the sesame pita. I could have this hummus any day! Muhammra: I've never had muhammra that is overly sweet. This was a first.... Lamb shank: Fall off the bone tender but the shank itself wasn't seasoned and was bland (hello salt). Rice was overly seasoned with saffron and the pine nuts in it were burnt, causing an odd flavor Lamb Kabab: Nicely seasoned and flavorful. Took bites of it with other dishes to add flavor. Wish they would have just put more yoghurt sauce under the kabab Chicken kabab: Seasoning was again MIA including salt. The aioli on top was unappealing in color and had Sifr taste. The mint chutney under it was good but was miniscule in amount. In summary: If you are used to the flavors of Noon-o-kabab, Kaboobi, even Pita Inn, or Reza's (RIP), you will be disappointed. If you wanna go for the bar, rooftop and don't care about how the food tastes like, maybe it's alright...... Price per person: $90–100 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

Great staff, there wasn’t an outdoor table available when we arrived and the hostess said she’d try to move us when one opened up- I though she was humoring us but she remembered and moved us to a beautiful spot on the patio when it became available. We did the tasting menu which includes the most incredible humus . All of the courses were delicious and their tasting menu seemed like really good value! Price per person: $100+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
