It is not a place that I would come to if I wanted to go out for nighttime fun, but I would definitely use it to host conventional events. ------------------------------------- In More Details: ------------------------------------- I hope you get the general basis of what I'm trying to relay. At first glance, the place looks admirable. Still, once you go in it and experience the complete ambiance, you soon realize it's as good as an overpriced Dave & Busters with fewer games and less maintenance (In terms of just barely keeping the few things they have "functioning"; as I use that word heavily). The dancefloor was small, and the drinks were mediocre at best. This is why this place is only practically good for running conventional events (e.g., Meet-Ups, Guess Speakers Conventions, etc.). I would not come here if I was trying to have an overtly good time (more like a pre-session before actually going out). This is a conflicting scenario, as the place's setting would have you believe that this is where you'll get the "climax of your night." Only to be stuck in a mirage, paying a cover fee to get in, drinking mid-drinks at best, and enjoying mid-quality tunes. The place is not worth your money, and I promise you that you'll find better places around it to give you a better buck for the money you put in. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pro: ----------- The only time that this place fits the shoes that they established for themselves is during America's Holidays. Other than that, any primary day within the week (of their operating hours) is a typical run-down place for which I would consider breaking more bread (money) for. Hope this helps.

If you are a woman, do NOT come here. Going out in New York as a woman, you kind of get used to the fact that there will be creepy, predatory men at the clubs. Despite this unfortunate reality, club security is there to help if things get out of hand, right? Wrong! Atleast as far as Slate NY goes. Slate NY has made it QUITE clear that they do not care about womens' safety here. A group of my (male and female) friends and I (female) went to Slate NY for their halloween party on 10/27/23. One of the girls in the group was my 22 year old sister visiting NY for the first time. Once we got to Slate, my sister and I went to the bar to get a drink. Once there, a 40/50 year old man started harassing my little sister - pushing her, making lewd comments, etc... . My boyfriend had to tell him to leave us alone MULTIPLE TIMES because he wouldn't take our "nos" for an answer. Once we had gotten our drinks, we went to the bathroom, and back to the dance floor, the ENTIRE TIME being followed by the same man. Interestingly, despite the bathroom being watched by security, and the VIP section in between the bathroom and the dance floor (a whopping five feet between the two) being watched by security, none of the security guards stood up for us after HEARING US AND WATCHING WHAT WAS HAPPENING. Once back on the dance floor, joining our friends, the same man stood behind my sister and tried to grab her. She made eye contact with our male friend to the side of her, and he went to elbow the man to get off of her. On accident, our male friend elbowed a female security guard who was STANDING RIGHT THERE (down the stairs from the VIP section). Keep in mind, this was THE SAME FEMALE SECURITY GUARD WHO WITNESSED US BEING HARRASSED AND FOLLOWED TO THE BATHROOM AND DANCEFLOOR. When he tried to apologize, she left, got her male security friend because she said she was "uncomfortable" dealing with our SOBER friend, and kicked my male friend out of the club. I mean, if you are uncomfortable dealing with a SOBER 24 year old DRESSED AS MICKEY MOUSE standing with a bunch of girls, you shouldn't be a bouncer. SERIOUSLY. SHE WAS INTIMIDATED BY MICKEY MOUSE, A 5'3 HANNAH MONTANA, AND CUPID. Nothing was done about the 40 year old man STANDING RIGHT THERE. Instead, she decided to take fault with my friend, who was defending my little sister, and WHO DIDN'T SEE WHO WAS BEHIND HIM. It was an accident, and she was too stubborn or 'intimidated by us' to see what really happened. My friends and I obviously met our male friend outside, since he couldn't get back in. He tried to explain what happened to a gentleman outside, who told us he would have the female security guard meet us outside so we could explain what was happening. Needless to say, she refused to come outside. COWARD. We then ended up speaking with the head of security - a bearded man by the name of "John" or "Don" (We couldn't make out his name clearly). We tried to explain what happened and he was incredibly rude and dismissive towards my upset little sister. He kept interrupting her, stood there scowling with his arms crossed, and ARGUED with us instead of hearing us out. Towards the end of our one-sided 'conversation' (aka him interrupting us the entire time), my crying little sister asked him if he cared about women's safety at the club, to which he responded "have a good night ma'am" and walked away. If you go to Slate, just know that there is a VERY sketchy, predatory, rapey crowd. If you are a woman, you WILL be followed. You WILL be touched. You WILL be harassed. and YOU WILL NOT BE DEFENDED BY THE VERY PERSONNEL WHO ARE PAID TO PROTECT YOU, AS THEY ARE EITHER SO COWARDLY TO INTERVENE, THEY ARENT DOING THEIR JOBS, OR THEY SIMPLY DONT CARE. Thank you Slate, for being the most disappointing club I have ever been to. NEVER again will you catch me or my friends (who COLLECTIVELY, I might add, have spent tens of thousands of dollars there over the past two years) walk through your doors to the nightclub from HELL. If I were you, I would IMMEDIATELY fire the female security guard, as well as your head of security. They aren't doing their jobs, and you may soon find yourself with a lawsuit on your hands from women hurt by their negligence.
