The soup is AMAZING. I refilled 3 times and drank at least 10 bowls. 4 stars because everything else is just average - eggplant, fish (silver carp) and all the Braised pork rice is not bad, the egg is excellent! Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Waited 10-15 mins for a table of one. Fish was nice and hot, even tho it was a bit bonny and oily. I had some stomach problem the following day but I am not sure if it was their fault. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $1–200 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

I visited Smartfish because it’s very famous in Chiayi, but unfortunately my experience was quite disappointing. The food felt a bit overrated compared to the hype. While it was decent, it didn’t really stand out as something special. The waiting time was also very long, and the restaurant was extremely crowded, which made the dining experience less enjoyable. After waiting for quite a while, the overall food quality didn’t really feel worth the wait. Overall, it might be worth trying once if you’re curious about this well-known place, but personally I feel there are many other places in Chiayi with good food and a more comfortable dining experience.
