Sabo Genza is a cozy café located on Suizu Street in the city of Sado. Nestled in what is noted to be Kita-san's ancestral home, the café offers a unique ambience that blends warmth and tranquility. Despite its charming setting and great coffee, it remains surprisingly underrepresented in popular restaurant directories, with only a minimal profile available on Google.
Visitors have praised the décor, highlighting musical instruments and records that enhance the friendly atmosphere while maintaining a tidy and spacious layout. The owner, known as Kita-san, is described as welcoming and skilled in English, contributing to a community vibe that's appreciated by locals and tourists alike. The café provides dine-in services but does not offer delivery, and while it has basic amenities like toilets, it lacks a wheelchair-accessible entrance. Operating hours are limited to specific days, which may influence planning a visit.
Additionally, it's important to note that reviews left for Sabo Genza are somewhat dated, with the most recent feedback being three years old. This leaves some uncertainty regarding the current state of operations and offerings, as there is no updated information available from the management or owner. Those considering a visit might want to experience its leisurely environment and see if the monthly events mentioned in past reviews continue.

We stopped by for a coffee in this wonderful place. The building (Kita-san's ancestral home) is beautiful, and the decor is a real labour of love. He has musical instruments and records all around the room, though there's lots of space and it's tidy. The speaker system and music is top quality. Kita-san was friendly, thoughtful, and had great English skills. A lovely man, and very helpful. It has such a warm; welcoming community vibe. He puts on amazing events at the house every month. A must visit!
