We were really REALLY sad when Saha closed in Berkeley.  If their food is as good back in SF as it was for the few years they were here in Berkeley, I highly recommend it.  Just bummed for Berkeley losing (yet another) great vegan-option restaurant.   ===== Original post: We love Saha!  Beautiful, creative, flavorful dishes, with tons of good vegetarian and vegan options, super friendly owner and wait staff, even their drinks and desserts are good. Herbivore was our favorite restaurant in Berkeley, and we were so bummed when it closed.  Apparently, the owner of Herbivore just wanted to retire, and he was friends with the owner of Saha which was still in SF at the time.  Somehow, he convinced him to move his operation to Berkeley, take over the space occupied by Herbivore, and promise to offer a wide range of veggie options.   The owner's Yemeni origins, California influences and brilliant creative streak result in dishes you won't find in other Middle Eastern restaurants, or anywhere else for that matter. Highly reco

Noticed this draft was unposted so posting it now.   2/15/19- Went there last night for Valentines Day and I was hoping to have a good dining experience but that was not the case, unfortunately.  First, it's amazing how restaurants price gouge on a holiday for the same product they charge any other day of the week.  Normally prefix is $40/45 (veg/meat) but since it was Valentines Day they decided to charge $55 regardless of veg/meat.  I don't recall seeing this when I made my reservation nor did it show on the website event page. The place was unorganized and the air just had that fried food smell to it.  Gross...

Sad to see this place close. It was good food and drinks and a very cool atmosphere. Hope something similar finds a home in this space.
