Had lunch there with my husband. Service was okay. Food was super bland, had the clam chowder it was pretty gross, I took a few bites and felt nauseous. The bread that came with the soup was pretty greasy. The crab sandwich had no flavor. We were sort of shocked given its Seattle and supposed to have fresh seafood. Maybe we just ordered the wrong thing, who knows. Also it is sort of gross to let people put their babies on the bar and let them sit up there. I am fairly certain children much less babies aren't legally allowed anywhere near a bar. Sort of bizarre place.

So sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your experience at Salty Girls. I can assure you our clam chowder is made fresh every day from scratch in our large 12 gallon steam jacketed kettle. I realize that it's not everyone's taste - but it has won best chowder on the peninsula the last 2 years. Our clams come right out of Discovery Bay 10 miles from the restaurant, as do some of our oysters. The crab meat used in our sandwiches comes from Pacific Seafood and our local distributor Key City out of Port Townsend. Our mussels are from Penn Cove off of Whidby Island - now managed and run by Taylor Shellfish who also supplies oysters out of nearby Hood Canal. Regarding the Bar area - apologies about the baby sitting on the bar top. I agree - that shouldn't happen, however the area at the bar is not designated as 21 and over because we are considered a food bar rather than a tavern or liquor bar. Families can be seated at our bar with their kids.

We were looking for fresh seafood and this place was recommended. The oyster sampler was good and unique with 4 types of oysters accompanied by a sauce and horseradish. The clam chowder was good, but we've had much better elsewhere. The crab salad melts were eatable but that's about all. This is a very small place with a bar and handful of tables. The menu is on a board behind the bar so not easy to read. Or you can scan a QR code for the menu. You have to go up to the register to order and pay at that time so the only service you get is food delivery to your table. The employees were pleasant and helpful. The ambiance I'd describe as a dive bar. I think takeout would be a better option than eating in. I'd go back to sit at the bar and drink because they have many signature drinks that sound interesting.

Thanks for coming in Joanne. As you noted- we are not a traditional table service restaurant. We try our best to set that expectation for customers when they enter. We offer OPTIONS to order to make it easy. Glad you enjoyed the oysters!
