The chef at this restaurant cooks tasty grilled chicken and good hummus. The attentive staff works hard, stays positive and makes this place wonderful. The cool service is a great plus of Samarqandi. Disappointed with Recent Experience I have been visiting this restaurant for quite some time and used to really enjoy it. However, on my recent visit, I noticed a significant decline in the overall experience. I’m not sure if the management has changed, but something definitely feels off. The family cabins, which were always a bit congested, have now become almost unbearable—they are located at the far end of the hall, right next to the washroom, and there’s a very unpleasant smell, likely due to poor or no ventilation. It makes the dining experience uncomfortable, especially for families looking for a private and relaxing meal. The quality of food has also gone downhill. The main courses no longer taste as fresh, and the desserts have become bland and uninspiring. It’s disappointing because this used to be one of the strong points of the restaurant. Additionally, it seems like new staff have been hired, possibly from Bangladesh, and while nationality isn't the issue, their unprofessional behavior, including loud conversations and shouting, disrupts the dining atmosphere. Interestingly, there's a new branch of this restaurant that opened around 8–9 months ago, just 5–6 km away. While it doesn’t offer family seating yet, it seems better managed and provides a decent experience for gents. I sincerely hope the original branch takes these issues seriously and works on improving, especially in terms of cleanliness, food quality, and staff behavior. Here is my old review from September'24: Samarqandi serves beyond expectations! The faham is delicious, and the rice they serve is authentic Samarqandi rice—truly impressive. Although the Shawaya didn’t quite meet my expectations, I still give them a 9/10 for their service, quality, and generous portions. To add even more value, they offer complimentary Samarqand Qubz with hummus, which is absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended!
