This is a review from the POV of someone who was shuttling 120 7th graders from LA to DC and needed to find a place to feed them. Things that were great: - the food was ready when we arrived (we called ahead of time to make sure this was the case) - they sectioned off a space for all of us, so other customers weren't having to go through our area - servers helped with distributing food through the buffet line - rice, beans, quesadillas, mini burritos, salad were all really good options Things that were not great: - while one table of kids were being served at a time, everyone else was just waiting around. I asked if we could have some chips and salsa at the tables, and they said that it didn't come with the package that we ordered...but everyone always gets chips and salsa. Seemed like low hanging fruit considering we were trying to manage the antsiness of all those teenagers. - we called and were reassured that there would be vegan and vegetarian options. While the vegetarians were satisfied (salad, rice, beans, quesadillas), the vegans were only given a bowl of beans and lettuce, topped with salsa and guac. There was no vegan protein option to include. Overall, the experience was fine and fast. I'm sure the experience would be better without the chaos of a group as large as ours.

This place is an absolute hidden gem! I came once before to have the tacos and I was blown away by how authentic tasting and delicious they were! I thought it was a fluke so I needed to return another time. Well I cam back recently and I am happy to report that the flavor explosions ignited again! The food was the perfect spice level and so flavorful. I recommend any of the tacos for sure. The decor is spot on and the margaritas are strong and tasty. This is the perfect place to come for a second date or dinner with friends before heading to the movies. As for the service, it is ALWAYS perfect. The wait staff are so kind and take very good care of you. I get a chance to speak some Spanish too so that is a definite plus! So please stop by and give this place your business because we gotta keep places like this around. Especially one that is close to our neighborhood. I loved this restaurant, pre-COVID. I went in 2021, I think, and it was still okay... though going down hill. They'd cut the menu down quite a bit. I decided to go back a week or so ago, as I had always loved their vegetarian entree (chili relleno, spinach enchilada and some sort of corn cake). I should've just walked back out when we realized the place was basically empty at 7 PM on a Friday night). The entree was no longer on the menu. The only thing vegetarian they had was veggie fajitas or I could put together a quesadilla. The food was mediocre at best... but not priced that way. And then to add some onions and red pepper they jacked up my quesadilla from 12.99 to over 16 dollars (though the menu didn't say that would be the case). The worst of it was when I asked for the check she came over with a credit card machine that didn't show the break down of the bill, and requested a Tip. The tip amounts suggested were very low percentages, which I thought was odd, so I put "custom" and gave 18%. But when I asked for a receipt I noticed they had already included and 18% gratuity AND then charged an 18% tip on top of that. Needless to say I demanded the tip back. Overcharging and then automatically rolling in a gratuity without informing the guests (only 2 people by the way, NOT a party) is absurd, and the way it was done was basically theft. I'll never have another meal at San Antonio Bar & Grill. Which is sad... they once had great food, and good service. Not anymore. I'm sure they'll be out of business in a matter of months anyway.
