I was looking forward to trying this restaurant out for awhile now so I waited until I took my date out for her birthday dinner. The parking lot was full and we had a 40-45 minute wait which you would think would be a good sign that a good meal was going to be on the proverbial menu... well you might be incorrect in your assessment if you were in my shoes. So... let me start off with the good first. The rolls and salads were really good so I wanted to share that first. On to the not so good... My date ordered the fork tender filet and I had the New York strip both to be cooked medium well. Her filet came out overcooked and tough not juicy and tender like the menu stated. My steak came out rare and blood oozing out of it. I sent my steak back to the kitchen to be cooked more and it came back medium rare and without the baked potato and extras I had on my plate when it was sent back to the kitchen until we asked about them and only then they were brought back to me. Our server apologized for the issues we experienced but it wasn't his fault and he asked the manager take my steak off the ticket as I couldn't eat very little of it. Huge disappointment of an experience especially since it was a special occasion dinner. Just my opinion here but if you are a steakhouse and the good part is the salad and rolls then you have really missed the mark somewhere. The wait was horrible, seated with no server, dirty tables around us! My first take is this place may have been a newer location as some staff looked a bit overwhelmed. We took it with a grain of salt given the holidays, but the redemption came when a manager was notified ( he had come from another location to cover while the original manager was out.. not knowing any staff. He made it all work) Once he found out we had sat without service, he personally handled our table and a couple behind us. You could tell his experience, his composure and hospitality were on point! He was efficient on getting our tables up to speed and handed our tables off to individual waitresses that were able to pick up the pace. Our visit finished off with well prepared food that was delicious! Santa Fe Cattle Company are pretty lucky to have him.. unfortunately, we didn't catch his name.
