Clean, decent hotel. The concierge staff could be a bit more knowledgeable and helpful about buses to the Artic Circle. Great breakfast buffet, as we had experienced throughout our travels in different Finnish hotels. Rovaniemi isn't a particularly picturesque city, but this was near a lot of restaurants and stores. Convenient location. Service: 4

Scandic Rovaniemi City hotel, is located in Rovaniemi, Finland. It is situated in the city center, approx half a km from the middle of town and near the main pedestrian walk is almost a '1 minute' walk away. Scandic Rovaniemi City, is located at Koskikatu 23 and operates from a modern, centrally built property situated right across from the Sampokeskus shopping center. The hotel is located, just steps away from the Revontuli and Sampokeskus shopping centers. It is approximately 8–9 km from Rovaniemi Airport and the Santa Claus Village. While the physical building was designed in a contemporary style, the hotel itself has been deeply woven into the local hospitality landscape since 1998, when the Swedish based Scandic hotel chain first expanded into Finland. The earlier story of this location ties directly into the wider history of the Nordic hospitality. The broader Scandic brand originated in Sweden as 'Esso Motor Hotels' to cater to the rise of European car travel. During 1984, the motor hotels were sold, rebranded to Scandic Hotels, and began rapidly expanding into city centers. In1998 Scandic established a major presence across all of Finland by acquiring the Finnish Arctia Hotels group. Through this acquisition and subsequent renovations, Scandic took over and established its city center location in Rovaniemi. In this place, Scandic Rovaniemi City features 178 rooms, a traditional Finnish sauna, and a Nordic-style restaurant, acting as a popular hub for both business and leisure travelers exploring the Arctic Circle. Was extremely glad to have stayed here during our trip in 2025 For the rest - Santa Claus Village is perhaps about a 10-minute drive from here, the Arktikum Science Museum is almost a 10-minute walk away too. The rooms are designed to reflect the Finnish Lapland environment, often featuring wooden floors and nature-themed art. The layout shown in my picture, is a standard or superior twin room, common for guests visiting for both business and / or tourism. I loved my room, simple yet smart, with just about everything one could or would require, upon a tourist journey. Caring and smiling staff, which is such a pleasure to see.
