Schooner Landing: Coastal Oregon Sine Qua Non We are aware of current reviews Our two-bedroom condo at Schooner Landing is large, orderly, and simply perfect. A small Foyer opens to a mirrored wet-bar, and the wet-bar adds a careful touch of class. To the left is a large living room featuring a cathedral ceiling and several large windows and a centered bay window; of course, a gas fireplace glows with a flip of a switch. Sliding glass door leads to the patio. Schooner Landing is well planned; the condo is bright with sun all day. Our bay window and deck overlook the beach and the Pacific Ocean. The afternoon sun flowing to the centered couch demands a nap. The second-floor condo ensures privacy and the window blinds are never closed. A second hallway leads to a full kitchen with a vaulted ceiling that is equipped for all sorts of cooking. A separate dining room with a cathedral ceiling and a picture window overlooking the beach and the Pacific Ocean will double as office and dining area. Schooner Landing is WIFI, and this is a necessary feature. Perhaps twenty years ago, a professor might escape the world, but too often these business trips require connectivity. This holiday is the usual business and pleasure event with a conference presentation as well as distance learning for my Ohio students. Next the hallway leads to an immaculate vaulted ceiling and simulated California tiled bathroom that is adjacent to the master bedroom (also with a vaulted ceiling.) The high ceilings and many windows convert an average condo to a luminous setting. A typical visitor review is as follows: We visited Schooner Landing in September - a wonderful time to be on the Oregon Coast. We had no rain and highs in the 70s.... All employees that we met there were very nice. The unit was very clean; each has a well-stocked kitchen, gas fireplace and whirlpool tub. The laundry facilities, pool, sauna, large screen TV, billiards, indoor sports courts, and movie rental are handy in the main building.... We watched for whales while sitting on our porch.... And to think, that we almost settled for a Marriott Condo in Newport Beach, California rather than hold out for Schooner Landing in Newport Beach, Oregon. Southern California and the freeways and traffic congestion is not agreeable with my journey. Coastal Oregon is paradise; my Ohio State friend is not encouraging the publication of this article because he really believes that fewer tourists in paradise are recommended. The traffic congestion is to the east on I-5. The locals and few tourists in October have made a compact to help and respect each other. There is not a Prius in sight. I wonder if Oregon has outlawed this very strange form of transportation. I get it: HOV. Yes, HOV. My California friends have explained that California law provides access to the HOV lanes if one is driving a Prius. There are no HOV lanes in coastal Oregon, and therefore no need for this strange form of mobility. The two photos of Schooner Landing are very accurate, but the WEB master must add interior photos of this beautiful complex. This small condo complex is perfect for romance and touring. For adults who recall the film "Same Time Next Year" filmed in 1978, directed by Robert Mulligan, starring Ellen Burstyn, Alan Alda, and Ivan Bonar. Some readers may not be aware that the exteriors for the film were shot at the Heritage House Inn in Little River, California. The shell of the cottage was built on a temporary foundation overlooking the Pacific Ocean. I have stayed at the actual "Same Time Next Year" cottage in Little River. The location of Schooner Landing resembles the California setting of "Same Time Next Year," cottages, but Schooner Landing offers the amenities of 21st century living. Schooner Landing is a real find.

We sat waterside. There was live music. Two in my party had the seafood sliders. All tasty and right-sized portions for us. The only criticism we had was that the rolls were straight out of the bag. They should have been toasted. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $30–50 Recommended dishes: Fried Shrimp
