Scopa has been on my wishlist for a very long time. I live up in the north and take the bus down Centre Street to/from work every day so I see Scopa beside Lina’s Italian Store all the time. I had a chance to hit up Scopa twice in one week – once for supper with a group of people for a birthday, and once for brunch with a couple new to town. I chose the restaurant both times, without having eaten supper or brunch there yet – a tad risky when I don’t want to disappoint my friends!

Ordered the risotto, linguine vongole and the salsiccia pizza. The risotto was too mushy and flavours were overpowering. The linguine had a very strong garlic flavour. The pizza was alright. The crust was good. Came here on Valentine's day, so as expected - service was not that great. Waiters were not very attentive.

I haven’t been to many Italian spots in Calgary but for my sis’s birthday, she needed a spot big enough to fit about 20 people. Scopa Neighbourhood Italian was big enough to accommodate her party so we were there on a Saturday evening. They have a Thursday family feast ($35.00). Happy hour is weekdays from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.
