I had a horrific experience with the Sea Boil Crab House in Alexandria, VA today. I initially called to determine what crabs were included in the 2 dozen special. I was told they were out of the special for the day but that I could get 2 dozen males for $106. Of course, I ordered for pick up. Immediately, I got a call back saying they had just sold out of the large males to a customer inside the restaurant and only had medium males left. I felt this was a lie because they misquoted the original price. I had my daughter call back to see if they were being truthful. She was told they still had a dozen large males, confirming they lied to me. I asked to speak to the manager, who came to the phone with a big attitude. When I asked her to honor the price for the 1 dozen, she proceeded to tell me she would not do that. I asked for the name and number of the general manager and was told there was no general manager. I then asked for the name of the owner, and the rude, disrespectful manager told me she was the owner. Of course, I looked up the owner and discovered that he is an Asian male, so she lied yet again. Then she proceeded to hang up on me. I have gotten crabs from them for a year now and never experienced such poor service. Their crabs are not well-seasoned and cost three times what you pay at the wharf. I hope her management sees this review and goes to that shop and trains his staff better. Be aware the $55 crab special is for a the smallest male crabs only. MOST days they don't even have them! There are no other specials or substitution offered. So 1/2 doz large crabs was 50$! This price is way out of line with other local prices. We went else where and got a dozen large crabs for $35! The boils bags may be great but the service was so rude we left. I DO NOT RECCOMEND THIS PLACE
