Sat at the bar for dinner on the weekend, there seemed to be a lot of regulars and the atmosphere was boisterous. Servers were consistently busy but very friendly - although you could tell they preferred helping some customers over others (likely the regulars?). You just had to try and get their attention rather than other diners where they seemed to constantly check in and stop for a chat. We got the small ice box which was fresh & delicious with the juicy prawns and oysters as our highlight. The tuna tartare was fantastic but only came with 3 little slices of toast and we had to ask for more (there was no way that was enough for all the tartare). For mains, we shared the grilled fish (can’t remember what fish ) and the grilled caulini. I’d say both were good but not particularly memorable. The fish was perfectly cooked but flavours were a bit muted. The sauce on the caulini was flavourful but texture was a bit too thick. We would definitely return for the ice box (would go for a large one!) and a drink or two (the black jack negroni was a standout), but likely skip a full meal. We had such a memorable dinner at Seahorse, and it's one of those restaurants we'd confidently recommend if you're celebrating something or simply want a really great seafood meal. The first thing we'd tell anyone ordering is to start with the raw seafood. We shared the Ice Box and the Tuna Tartare, and both were incredible. The tuna was buttery, fresh, and practically melted in our mouths. Paired with the crème fraîche and soft grilled bread, it was simple but executed perfectly. The Ice Box was also a great way to try a variety of seafood. We especially loved using the crudo sauce on the oysters, the scallop sauce with the shrimp, and the pickled onions on the clams. The Grilled Red Snapper was easily our favourite dish of the night. The fish was cooked beautifully, and the ramp salsa verde with fennel gremolata made every bite fresh, bright, and packed with flavour. Don't leave the sauce underneath the fish because it's honestly one of the best parts of the dish. The Gamberi Spaghettini was another standout. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, and a squeeze of fresh lemon brought out even more flavour in the signature sauce. Even the Seahorse Salad surprised us with its refreshing sweet-and-tangy mushrooms that balanced the richer dishes really well. For drinks, we tried the Seahorse Spritz, Olive Oil Sour, and Negroni. All three paired beautifully with the seafood without being overly strong. Dessert was the only thing we'd probably skip next time. The panna cotta itself had a beautiful silky texture, but we were hoping for a stronger passion fruit flavour from the sauce. It was still enjoyable, just not as memorable as everything else we ordered. One of the highlights of the night was our server, Jamie. He was incredibly knowledgeable, made honest recommendations, and even surprised us by turning the leftover dessert granita into complimentary mezcal shots. It was such a thoughtful touch and really showed the level of hospitality here. If you're looking for an incredible seafood restaurant that's worth the price, especially for a date night or dinner with a small group, Seahorse is absolutely worth visiting!!
