We visited Secret Kitchen at around 2:30 pm on a Saturday. Even though the restaurant was full and the kitchen was about to close, the staff still warmly welcomed us and let us quickly order their best sellers. We really appreciated the hospitality. This is honestly one of the best yum cha experiences I’ve had. Salt & Pepper Squid – 5/5: Perfectly crispy, fresh, and coated with a flavourful seasoning. Both my boyfriend and I absolutely loved this dish. Mixed Steamed Rice Rolls – 4.5/5: Served with two fillings: vegetables and crispy prawns. The rice roll was silky smooth, and the prawn filling was fresh with a light crispy texture that made it even more enjoyable. Prawn Siu Mai – 3.5/5: Good quality and tasty, but nothing particularly memorable. Black Sesame Prawn Toast – 2/5: Unfortunately, this wasn’t for me as it was a little too oily. The restaurant has a beautiful, classic Chinese atmosphere, the staff were friendly, and the food suited our taste perfectly. I can’t wait to come back the next time I’m in Melbourne. Secret Kitchen Chinatown always has great yum cha dishes at a decent price. Typically comes to $50pp and everyone is very full. The tea is kept warm with a candle/tealight which is very charming.
$$$$ Price range per person A$40-A$60
