1/5 – Worst dining experience I’ve had in Australia This was hands down the worst restaurant experience I’ve had in Australia, and I’m shocked it’s attached to a well-known hotel. We arrived at 6:12 PM on Tuesday, 27/01/26. The restaurant was almost empty—only one other couple dining. There was no one at the entrance to welcome us, so we sat at a vacant table. Instead of being politely assisted, we were later told we should have waited at reception before entering. We were then asked to leave the restaurant, wait outside, and after a couple of minutes were told to “follow me” straight back to the exact same table we were already seated at. Completely pointless, awkward, and unprofessional—especially considering we had a child with us. This kind of treatment is unbelievable for a hotel of this standard. Now let’s talk about the food—because this is where it gets worse. I ordered the “Lindley Valley Crispy Pork Belly with tamarind chilli caramel sauce, sweet potato purée, and soft herb salad.” Sounds amazing, right? What was served looked nothing like the photos on their website. I’ve attached pictures of what they advertise vs. what we actually received, and the difference is honestly shocking. The pork belly was not crispy at all—not even slightly. The dish felt rushed, poorly executed, and misleading. Calling this “crispy pork belly” is simply false advertising. It felt like a complete scam. The only positive thing I can say is that the ambience is nice, but that’s standard for a so-called fine dining restaurant. Unfortunately, ambience alone doesn’t make up for terrible service, misleading menu descriptions, and disappointing food. I will be taking this further and raising it with Consumer Affairs. Worst restaurant ever. Avoid at all costs. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $80–100 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3

Unfortunately, this was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had. The waiters seemed uninterested and unhappy in their roles, which affected the overall dining experience. The menu was also confusing. For example, the pork belly was described as coming with a salad, but it turned out to be just a small garnish. Overall, it was disappointing, and I would not return.
