I'm sorry to hear that this place closed. Their best dish was the Shanghai Sliced Meat Mixture in the Vegetable section made with bean curd, shrimp, celery, red peppers, and pork tenderloin strips. That was the tastiest dish I ever had and wish I could've gotten the recipe. It was spicy and tasty and would go great when paired with rice or any noodle dish.

It was my first time to eat Shanghainese vegetable rice. It didn’t have the bitter taste of Qingjiang cuisine, but had a little more crispiness of crispy rice. It was surprisingly delicious! The garlic paste of dry-roasted shrimps is very delicious, but not spicy at all! The only thing I might not like about the flavor of the pan-fried buns is that the skin is too thick. Was really sad to find out the other Shanghai Garden has closed up and was recommended to check this one out. There was not one customer when we entered and was actually questioned by the server if this was indeed the restaurant we were coming to - that should've been a reg flag but I wanted to give this small business a chance. Then again, I should've done my due diligence and checked the reviews before dining here. I rarely give out such a low rating/review but this has got to be one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had.. honestly I wanted to give just 1 star because of the food but since the waitress/owner lady was super nice and friendly, I threw in a second star. The food we ordered are some of same dishes we would order at the other location. However, this food experience actually haunts me.. see my explanations below - - Shanghai style sweet sour pork ribs: 1/5 - not Shanghai style, looked like they just emptied a bottle of sauce and stir-fried it, at least the meat was tender and fell off the bone - Shanghai sliced meat mixture: 0/5 - also not even Shanghai style.. the entire mix had a foul smell.. it was doused in sesame oil to cover the spoiled pork pieces - Vegetable rice with salted pork clay pot: 2/5 - the pieces of pork meat was still pinkish, rice was overly wet, and then dumped into the clay pot - Fish fillet with pepper and salt: 1/5 - large pieces of fish with an odd batter that was overly peppered Thank goodness I didn't end up with a stomachache or food poisoning and this was my first and will be my last experience at this restaurant. I still can't believe we were served spoiled meat. Plus the pictures on Yelp are misleading because they actually do not serve most of what they are advertising (i.e. deep fried fish fillet w/ dried seaweed).
