Has petrol wheel pressure service. There are restaurants, grocery shops and toilet around. Also, a variety of busses stop here to drop off and pick up passengers

On 13 January 2026, I visited one of your service stations intending to purchase food from Steers and Fishaways and refuel at the Shell forecourt. Before doing so, I attempted to use the restroom facilities located at the back of the Steers. Upon arrival, I was approached by a lady in Shell uniform who requested R2 to access the toilet. While she was polite, I found this request unacceptable. In South Africa, restroom facilities at service stations are traditionally provided free of charge to customers, with attendants sometimes receiving voluntary tips for maintenance. I have personally donated to attendants at Engen 1 Stop and other competitors when I observed them maintaining the facilities. The issue is not the amount requested, but the principle. As a paying customer, I should not be asked to pay for basic amenities. Furthermore, I generally do not carry cash and rely on card payments since COVID-19, making such a demand impractical. Although the attendant later relented and offered free access, the damage was already done. The experience left me feeling unwelcome and disrespected. As a result, I chose not to use the facilities, not to purchase food, and not to refuel at Shell. I will not be returning to Shell service stations in the future. We did stop outside of town and relieved ourselves free of charge without buying anything. This practice is inconsistent with the hospitality offered by your competitors and undermines customer loyalty. I urge Shell South Africa to review this policy and ensure that restroom facilities remain free for customers, with voluntary tipping as the standard. There is a possibility that this was a decision made by the staff member concerned or even by the operator. The fact is that Shell is the brand associated with this behaviour along with Famous. brands.
