I love Sherpas!!! We are a climber family - I always have delicious food here, everyone is so nice, it always feels like coming home. Stopped by on a Friday for take out, there was hardly any standing room in the waiting area!! They will make me dairy-free Saag and it's the best. It's usually my kid's first request if we are going out. If you're new to Boulder or visiting, it's a great local place to check out.
Their Indian dishes are subpar when compared to other regions, but decent for the area. They don't have any genuinely spicy dishes, but the sauce they give you to make the food spicy is adequate. Their happy hour deals are great, but the service is terribly slow. I've never had to wait for a table, but I've never received high quality service either. I wouldn't take a date or a visiting friend here, but it's not a place to avoid.
I don't usually comment about food places because I am not a very picky type. However, my experience at Sherpa's yesterday was dismal and I can't help writing this down. We went for dinner and ordered momo platter, chicken tikka masala, daal bhat with chicken curry and chili chicken. Service was ok but food quality and presentation was awful. Momo sauce was bland and momos themselves lacked flavor. Chicken tikka masala and chicken curry had the same base sauce- couldn't tell which was which. Chicken pieces were dry and bland. The menu said daal bhat menu comes with pickles, never got any and I asked the server. They said they didn't have it. Lentil portion was super small and again... bland. I really wish I could give rave reviews but based on my experience this place doesn't deserve any. Hope the management reads this and improves its quality.
