I visited Shinoda in Nov 2023 on my birthday. It was one of the few restaurants with a rather high rating on Tabelog that was also available for reservation on the actual date of my birthday. It's a small and cosy restaurant and there were only 2 other guests besides myself that day. The food was incredible. Being able to have matsutake mushrooms for my birthday was unforgettable. The drinks were all great as well. The total price of the meal was also very reasonable, at around 35,000 yen then. I still have souvenirs from the restaurant such as the hinoki chopsticks and imabari towels as a keepsake. Shinoda is looking in a rural part of Japan, but please visit it if you are in the area!
