Me and my partner in crime fancied something different tonight so we thought we'd give Shiraz restaurant a try after passing it quite often. After finding it almost impossible to find parking ( but then again it is Southall). As you come in , the decor is dated and needs freshening up ... We thought the food would speak for itself. We were greeted by a very pleasant family with smiles all round which is something you don't generally get from restaurant workers. We were sat on comfortable chairs, I must say nothing beats those cheesy Bollywood dramas with over acting actresses and their pale skins which doesn't represent true Asians ... Anyway my partner and I focused on what matters .. The food. After looking through the menu we were mesmerised by a couple of dishes which we order : Qabuli Mycha Rice , Lamb curry and also the Afghan Lamb Kebab. After waiting what seemed like forever and listening to the background noise of the dramatised and appalling acting, the food arrived.
As I broke the hot bread, the sight of steam filled the table and the aroma of freshly cooked bread filled our nostrils. Although My fingers got burnt with the heat of the naan bread the pain quickly subsided due to the amazing flavours in my mouth after dipping the bread in the curry sauce. It was divine. The Afghani kebabs which, I highly recommend, were moist, tender and perfectly cooked. The infusion of flavours created a sensation of a Qataghani (Afghani dance) party in my mouth. I couldn't help but reach for the Qabuli Mycha Rice and I never thought that the mixture of raisins, fried carrots with rice and lamb shank would bring such a exquisite sensation to my tastebuds. Loved it. Love love love! We will be coming here more often.. But have been caught out by relatives!
