I dined at Shiro for dinner and chose the 7‑course tasting menu, adding the wagyu course along with the drink pairing (sake plus a white and red wine). The restaurant itself makes a strong first impression—tastefully designed with a calm, refined atmosphere. I sat at the kitchen bar, which I’d highly recommend as a vantage point. Being able to watch the team assemble each dish added a lot to the experience and gave a real sense of the care that goes into the presentation. Service was pleasant and attentive, although one aspect felt lacking. There was very limited explanation of the dishes, and more notably, no real introduction to the drinks being served. The wine and sake were simply poured without showing the bottles or offering any meaningful description. As a non-French speaker, this may have partly been a language barrier, but even so, I would have expected at least a brief overview of what I was drinking. The food itself was good, but ultimately not memorable. The flavours leaned quite mild throughout the menu—nothing was off-putting, but there also weren’t any standout dishes that really lingered after the meal. The biggest disappointment was the wagyu course, which was quite fatty and slightly overcooked, detracting from what should have been a highlight of the experience. Given the neighbourhood and the level at which the restaurant positions itself, I expected something more compelling. Overall, everything felt technically competent but somewhat average, without a defining moment that would draw me back. A solid meal in a beautiful setting, but not one I’d rush to revisit. Upscale vibes and the tastiest bento box. Each portion / square was perfectly cooked and about 2-3 bites of food. We thought it was the perfect amount of food for lunch. The only item in the bento box that we did not care for was the dessert square (a lime cheesecake that was very bland). I also had a fantastic cocktail called a Mojitea which was a combination of an iced tea liquor and a Mojito. YUM!!! Definitely a place I will continue to come to for the bento box and Mojitea! My first time dining at Shiro, with high expectations for the prestige and unique dining experience the restaurant had curated for itself. I’m thrilled to find that they offer vegetarian omakase options, and they come with a variety of amazing dishes. The sake our server recommended is also incredibly well-paired with the food. Food is absolutely worth the price and the time spent coming here. One slight issue that occurred is a mix-up of my dish that contained fish, which our waitress kindly accepted the fault, and she’s very apologetic about the situation. However, there’s a slight issue with management, as our server continues to do a wonderful job. Still, when another waiter is notified of the situation, he quickly dismisses the issue and, surprisingly, doesn't take into account that the mix-up is due to a mishap; instead, he turns back to us and says we should’ve reported it earlier rather than touching the meal. This is something very slight to mention out of the wonderful experience at Shiro, but I still want to note that our waitress is absolutely attentive, as is the communication. But the other waiter's attitude is a dismissive response that I don’t think should align with the dining experience that I expect from Shiro.
