Amazingly tasty food. The beef and mushroom skewers were great. The standout is the ramen(s) that was amazingly flavoursome and a good portion. Decor and layout was great and staff were very attentative with quick service. Definitely give it a try if you want some tasty Japanese food in Nottingham. Shobu Japanese Restaurant immediately brought me back to my trip to Japan this past Easter. From the moment I walked in, the service had that same authentic “walk-in and sit-down” ease I loved overseas, it was (and is) friendly, efficient, and genuinely welcoming. The staff made me feel taken care of without ever hovering, just like the dining experiences I enjoyed in Japan. The food was incredibly impressive. The ramen especially stood out: the broth was rich and perfectly balanced, and the noodles had that ideal texture and bounce that reminded me of the ramen shops in Tokyo and Osaka. The chicken katsu curry was another highlight, it was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, with a smooth, flavorful curry sauce that tasted authentically Japanese. It was comforting and satisfying in all the right ways. The atmosphere tied everything together, calm, warm, and inviting, creating the perfect setting to relax and enjoy a great meal. Overall, Shobu Japanese Restaurant delivered great customer service, delicious food, and an atmosphere that took me right back to my Easter trip to Japan. I’ll definitely be returning.
