A polished take on modern Japanese comfort food with excellent attention to detail. Rather than a traditional broth, the creamy sauce coated every strand of noodle beautifully, creating a rich, velvety texture that never felt overly heavy. Every bite was well balanced, with the toppings adding layers of flavour and texture, especially the perfectly jammy eggs and the crisp prawn cutlet. The takoyaki was equally impressive, light and fluffy with a generous topping of bonito flakes that elevated the dish without overpowering it. Presentation was elegant and the overall dining experience felt thoughtfully put together. The only reason it doesn’t score higher is that, while everything was executed very well, it lacked that standout element that leaves you thinking about it days later. Overall: 8.5/10. A refined and satisfying meal with quality ingredients, excellent execution, and a creamy abura soba that’s well worth trying. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Paid $21.50 for a ramen that came with ONE paper-thin slice of meat. One. For that price, that’s borderline robbery. The portion was pathetic and nowhere near worth the money. The service was just as bad. Had to get my own water from the fridge while multiple staff stood around doing absolutely nothing. What’s the point of having so many employees if customers are expected to do everything themselves? The takoyaki tasted exactly like the frozen ones from the supermarket. Honestly, the whole point of eating at a restaurant is getting freshly prepared food, not paying restaurant prices for factory-made frozen products that have simply been reheated. Walked out after spending $34 feeling completely ripped off. Tiny portions, poor quality food, and disappointing service. There are plenty of better places to spend your money. Absolutely SCAM. Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. Our water is generally set up as self-service because during busy service periods, our staff may not always be able to provide water to every table promptly. However, when the restaurant is quieter, we are always happy to bring water to customers upon request. We apologise that this was not properly communicated and that you felt unattended. While we prepare the majority of our sauces and food in-house, we do use selected ready-made products for a small number of side dishes in order to offer more variety on our menu. We’re sorry that the takoyaki did not meet your expectations. Thank you again for your feedback. We will take your comments on board and continue working to provide a better service and dining experience.

Honestly one of the premium spots for top quality ramen in the Sydney area. Solid price point for the outstanding quality of food delivered straight to your table. Luckily you’re not waiting long at all for the food to come to you. I would recommend the Red Ramen & Black Ramen (pictured) both very flavoursome with a wonderful aroma. Portion sizes are great so if you’re hungry I can guarantee Ramen Shogun Ultimo will leave you satisfied.
