This spot is a hidden gem. My girlfriend and I arrived close to 1pm when the owner closes between lunch and dinner, and he warmly welcomed us in and was very accommodating. His English is quite impressive and he's very friendly, so we had great conversations as he cooked us a delicious sashimi and grilled fish lunch. This was one of the best meals we had in Japan and would highly recommend it to anyone. He takes extreme care in his cooking and it shows, it was amazing watching a true master at work. Absolutely one of my favorite places in Japan. You can immediately feel how much care and passion the owner puts into every dish. The food is outstanding, and it’s clear that everything is prepared with the guests in mind. This restaurant really showed me what true Japanese hospitality is. The fried dishes are a must-try—especially the hire-katsu and tempura. The grilled fish was also excellent, and every bite honestly surprised me in the best way. I visit Japan often, and I make sure to come here every time. The owner previously lived in Los Angeles, so we were able to communicate in English, which made the experience even more comfortable and welcoming. The sake recommendations were spot on and paired perfectly with the food. I also learned that the owner went through a serious motorcycle accident a few years ago and, after rehabilitation, now prepares everything on his own. That dedication alone deserves huge respect. When arriving in Tokyo we wanted a relaxing place to enjoy our first dinner and we were blown away by the quality of service and food. We sat at the bar and they customized a tasting of small dishes for us, including sashimi, soup, grilled fish, tempura, and pork. All of the ingredients were high quality, and Shun did a great job of asking for feedback and adjusting/timing dishes for us.
