We were looking for a quick, nice place to eat at the Arcadia mall. Our first choice was Din Tai Fung. Unfortunately, every time we go there, the waiting list is from 1 hour to 2.5 hours long. Good news is that you never have to wait long at Side Chick. Bad news is that the name is like their dishes - seems familiar but missing something. Their main attraction is the Hainan Chicken. We ordered 2 main entrees, the chicken noodle soup, and the Fried Chicken platter. My favorite part of the meal was the Hainan Rice. It had some pretty good flavoring, was just tender enough and topped off with some crunchy fried onions. I think that was the highlight of the meal. The fried chicken platter ranged from overfried to under cooked. That isn't to say it was raw but there was definitely some difference in consistency, even between bites. The outer skin came out super crispy but a little bit dry. Whereas the inside was a little pink and still juicy. Since it wasn't clear or white, I figure it's still safe. The noodle soup was where we had a real issue. The noodles were fine and the broth was okay. The problem was the chicken. There was no flavor! I didn't order this from KFC. The chicken is supposed to have some flavor and not be a steamed chicken. I'd rate this place as okay but have a little caution if you're coming. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend it. Maybe this is like your 2nd or 3rd option, especially if you can't wait that long to go to Din Tai Fung.

We used to go here often out of convenience but today the food was unacceptable. We ordered white meat hainan chicken. Both of the dishes we bought, the chicken was spoiled. It tasted off and the smell was rotten and gave my husband food poisoning. Smell before you eat it. They lost our business. Negative stars for sure. Service is mediocre.
