This place was nasty, they had numerous write ups from the health department. They are permanently closed and now Mama Tys soul food is taking over.

Im not sure why they went to only takeout them closed for good. I used to really like this place. Even before covid the prices were creeping up and portions were same or smaller. When driving 35 minutes fir dim sum we had to decide between silver crystal and new asia house right down the road. Now it's a no Brainer. Asia house is much nicer inside and the dim sum and food is about the same. We will be alternating between new asia house and kings garden Cranston. (Also very good but parking is a pain in the azz lol)

'A Cantonese Gem in the middle of Rhode Island'.  I was feeling a little home sick on a business trip in Rhode Island when I found myself seeking for some comfort food.  Being from NYC and having lived in Chinatown for many years I wanted some simple congee (rice porridge) which always soothed me.  Must be because mom always served it when I was a little under the weather.  I checked out yelp for Asian Cuisine and found the Silver Crystal restaurant.  From the pictures the restaurant building and interior looked like it hadn't been updated since the late 1990's, but the pictures of plated food looked promisingly authentic and couldn't hurt that it was only 10 mins from my hotel.    I walked into the restaurant, pretty lite on guests except for two 10 seated tables full of old Hong Kongers chatting in cantonese like being in a tea house in Hong Kong.  Score.. The greeter spoke English to me till I spoke Cantonese back to them.  They handed me their Specials menu and a Dim Sum menu.  Hard only to eat for one,  I almost wished I had gone to a buffet, but I'm in the for the quality not just variety.  I asked for the regular menu  since the items seemed like it might be too much for one but the waitress looked at me like really?  And when I saw it I knew why.  From the dim sum and special menu I ordered three items.. first being the pork and preserved duck egg congee, two, the steamed rice rolls with shrimp, and finally the fish fillets and vegetables.  The pork and preserved duck egg congee came out first.  It was pretty good.. only the pork in the congee were strips of salted roast pork rather than the hand cut pork pieces that are seasoned with corn starch, salt and white pepper, and cooked in with the congee like they do in NYC.  Other than that, the texture of the congee was near perfect with bite sized chunks of preserved duck eggs aka thousand year old eggs and diced scallions.   Hit the spot and I was feeling a little better already.  Next that was served was the steamed rice roll with shrimp, classic dim sum item, with a sweet soy sauce.  The waitress who was perfectly attentive asked if I wanted chili oil hot sauce.  I said yes.  A very nice complement to the dish as it added a hint of heat, numbing peppers and cooked spiced oil flavoring.  I finished all three rice rolls.   Finally the fish fillet and vegetables came out with a hot bowl of perfectly cooked rice, which was dense, al dente, and never crunchy.  These perfectly bite sized fish fillet pieces stir fried with slivers of thin diamond shaped ginger and carrots in a soy based brown sauce never over powered the fish pieces which crumbled in my mouth like fresh seafood should. That was served on top of blanched guilan, the Chinese equivalent to leafy broccoli.  Lite, homey, wonderful.  I ate it heartily as I listened to the conversations in Cantonese from the other two tables on when some of them were going to Hong Kong, when their flight was, and who they were going to visit how their grandchild were doing.  I'd come again if I'm around this part of Rhode Island.
