A pie worth writing home about. I don’t say this lightly: the Beef, Cheese & Onion pie from Miss Simone Bakery might just be one of the best pies I’ve had in my life. From the first bite, it was clear this was something special. The top pastry—golden, buttery, and audibly crisp—gave way to delicate layers of soft flake beneath, each one whispering “made with care.” The filling? Pure nostalgia and indulgence in equal measure. Rich, slow-cooked beef tangled with ribbons of sweet onion, bound together with just the right amount of real, molten cheese—not the synthetic stuff, but proper cheese with body and bite. The temperature was spot on, too—warm enough to comfort, never too hot to enjoy. Every element held its own, but together they sang: earthy, savoury, and soul-satisfyingly good. It’s the kind of pie that makes you pause mid-mouthful, look at the person across from you, and mutter something like, “This. Is. Insane.” And it’s not just the pie. The bakery has a down-to-earth warmth, with friendly service that makes you feel like a local, even if you’re just passing through. There’s clearly love behind the counter, and it shows. An unpretentious masterpiece in pastry. I’ll be back—and I’ll bring friends.
