We went on Sunday at 1pm and ordered from the new brunch menu: 2 types of potato rosti and Eggs Benedict. We were the only customers but they still forgot our order. After waiting 50 minutes, I requested our food. Nearly 15 minutes later it arrived. I could not eat the Eggs Benedict as the ham - clearly the cheapest type of processed wafer thin ham - looked grey. I tried it and it was inedible. The rosti were completely overcooked and partially burned. The beetroot was undercooked and dressing sharp and unpleasant. We were shown an unopened package of ham as some kind of proof that the ham was in date. I asked for - and was given - a full refund. It was appalling. We were very disappointed, as the food at Skogen used to be good. I would definitely not recommend it now. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3 Price per person: £10–20

Oh my gosh, Rebecca — I am so sorry. This is unbelievably embarrassing. Forgetting the only customers in the building was bad enough; presenting the unopened ham packet as Exhibit A is a personal, toe-curling low ‍We’ve now taken the fairly extreme step of removing the brunch service entirely. Thank you for taking the time to explain exactly what happened — painful as it was to read, the detail was genuinely useful and very much appreciated.Wild. Really sorry. Updated as absolute lies on the reply to this......arrived at 10:23 and waited outside until after 10:30, and then opened the gate as no one was opening it as my elderly parents (1 in a wheelchair) wanted to get settled. Asked if we could sit and the unbothered staff member said yes....not caring at all. And the tables were filthy. Would never go back, and please do share the video so everyone can see the lies. Absolutely shocking experience and didnt even get to eat. Turned up just before open on a Saturday for brunch. 10:30 passed and no one came out to open up. 10:35 passed and managed to actually open the gate to see if they were opening. Completely oblivious kid behind the bar (prepping) said yes, so we sat down. All the tables were horrible and dirty from the night before still and the place felt really unclean. Waited at the table and the kid didn't seem bothered about giving us menus or interacting with us in any way........just ignored us. Had to ask for menus and the table cleaned which he eventually did. Sat for another 5 minutes or more without being offered any drinks and feeling like we were invisible. Decided to just leave as it felt like a joke......kid behind the bar didn't say anything and didn't even look over to us as we left. Clearly dont care about serving, so went to the forest hotel instead and had a great breakfast. Would literally never ever go back to skogan Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Dear Chris, you arrived before our advertised opening time and were nevertheless welcomed into the venue by a member of staff while the team prepared to open. You left before service began and did not place an order. The venue was not “filthy”, and we do not accept your repeated derogatory references to our colleague as “the kid”. We are sorry that allowing your party inside before opening did not meet your expectations.
