See Wanderlust by default, the guests' piece of advice is to come to this bar as well. But google users rated Slovak Club and it didn't receive a high rating.
Change the name, nothing Slovak about this place. Typical American private bar. Slovaks stay away. Prosím vas čo najďalej od tohto miesta!!! Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
Me and my wife are native Slovaks here in NYC on a visit. We had heard that there was a Slovak club here in New York city so of course we found this as a chance to meet some people we could mingle and talk to comfortably. We were wrong. First thing we noticed about the place is how run down the outside is. Second, we walked in and found that the inside was much more worse then the outside, it smelled and was decorated like a cheap bar from the corner with the lights basically off, nothing Slovakian at all about this place. Third, as soon as we walked in we tried to talk to someone at the door in our language, he did not speak Slovak which surprised us since this was supposed to be a "Slovak club". We asked in English if this was the Slovak club thinking we had went into the wrong door, to which he said it was. Still trying to be friendly, we introduced ourselves and tried to make conversation and asked if there was anyone from Slovakia in the club seeing as we wanted to mingle a bit with some native people while sight seeing. He condescendingly told us no and told us this was a private club, member only and to leave. Not only was this "Slovak club" basically a cheap bar with just the name linking it to Slovakia, but the members were not even Slovakian, and to boot were also incredibly rude to some people just wishing to check out a place tied to their country supposedly. I'll be it that it we understood it was a private club, but that is no was to behave to someone. Me and my wife left there very disappointed and shocked. So to any Slovaks and even normal people, stay as far way from this place as you can! If the ambiance cant keep you away, then the trashy behavior will!
