A gritty city experience with strong student over vibes. Very affordable burgers and fries, tasty. Simple to minimalist atmosphere. Check out the framed letter from a lawyer for In-N-Out Burger on the south wall LOL. Beyond Berger is an option, and they have vegan bread and vegan cheese. French fries are cooked in a fryer that has not been used to fry meat. This is a great place to take your vegan and vegetarian friends. I’ll be back! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Order type: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Recommended dishes: Smash Sauce, French Fries, Smashed Burgers Recommendation for vegetarians: Highly recommend Vegetarian offerings: Vegetarian menu or section Vegetarian options: Beyond burgers, vegan buns, and vegan cheese are options. I can only remember one other place that I gave five stars in all categories. You walk into a well-put-together, modern-feeling spot. It is very clean and aesthetically pleasing, polished concrete floors and exposed ceilings. A very hipster lo-fi hip-hop feel. They had some old school CRU playing just loud enough to fill the background. It almost reminded me of a high-end sneaker store. If you're not into hip hop you won’t even notice, but if you are, you’ll appreciate the mood that it sets. The menu is really simple, but the guy that helped me (I think his name was Michael) went way out of his way to not only be personable but helpful and patient as I changed my order 3 times smh. I tried the BACON OG Smashburger, the chopped cheese, and the fries loaded fries. I didn’t like the fact that the pickles were slightly sweet. Initially I thought they would be like a salty kosher pickle. However, the fries themselves had a little bit more salt than I would prefer, and that made everything balance each other out. One legitimate complaint would be I’d like more fries in my fries, cuz it was full of meat and cheese to the max! The burger is tasty and the patties fell over every edge of the bun, which was also soft and oversized... BUT to me the best part was the chopped cheese. They had a special J's chopped cheese man... maaaaAAaan. The guy told me it’s their take on the Jersey Mike’s sub... I tasted this thing and I’m like Jersey Mike who?!?!!! This place is right down the street from a drop-off that I had, and they were the closest thing to me within walking distance to the metal plant. I highly recommend this place. Highly! THIS is the closest thing that I’ve had to me making burgers at the house, and although they’re not better than MINE, it was way more than I could have expected... AND I say that going into the situation knowing that they were rated 4.7 stars on Google reviews. They exceeded that in every facet. Now they are slightly on the expensive side — the double bacon OG smashburger that I got was $13, the double chopped cheese was $15 I think, and a load of fries might have been $10... But then I had to remind myself a Big Mac is damn near $8 and it’s half the size of this burger, more bread, and way more disappointing. So I’d call it worth it. A double burger will fill you up point blank period, but the chopped cheese for me is the reason I would definitely come back! I let my food get cold just so I can write this review RNS. Great job SMASHED RVA! Meal type: Lunch Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
