Service was really slow and when Finally got the pizza it was really bad ...was not even properly cooked and tase was horrible...will try to avoid going again

Updated April 2024 Honest and truthful review from a 15+ years customer - this place has been great and the go-to place until Brexit and then early 2022, (post covid lockdown/restrictions), where this place has just been going down. Prices gone up and smaller portion size. I totally understand inflation is going up, but the price no longer reflects on the portion size and the *standard* of food For example, you get fish n chips in a small box now rather than wrapped up in paper. The chips have changed. Before, used to be more fluffy inside. Now, its slightly more waxy inside. Food not fresh/problems on MANY occasions; dark grey in chicken, kebab not cooked properly, grilled beef burger pre-made which is then placed back on the grill to re-heat = burnt, sausage lukewarm and smell off, *fish smelling off* on multiple occasions. My friend has said the same too. New staff, especially the lady, who consistently do not communicate well with their customers. I’ve never had any issues before covid. It’s a real shame. There are two positives: speed of service and their pizza. Pizza is good but they only give 1 chilli and 1 mayo for an extra large 12 slice pizza??? *They now accept card payments but do not really advertise it* Smethwick Fish Bar need to seriously up their game.
