Nestled on Zhongxing Street in Taipei's Sanzhi District, Smoky Inn Restaurant brings a distinctive twist of German cuisine to this bustling city. Open for lunch and dinner from Monday to Sunday, the restaurant offers a moderate price level for its offerings. Patrons can enjoy a casual dining experience with a focus on German dishes, though some visitors have noted that the menu strays into Italian territory with pasta options, and traditional favorites like schnitzel appear to be absent. Despite its German theme, complete with draft beer offerings, some customers feel the authentic German food presence could be stronger.
The ambiance at Smoky Inn Restaurant is described as pleasant, featuring friendly and attentive staff. However, a whimsical touch like Christmas decorations might still be found lingering past the festive season, as mentioned by past visitors. With reviews being quite dated now, primarily focusing on the lack of expected German culinary staples, newcomers might enjoy a peek before visiting to set expectations right. To know more about current menu updates or events, potential diners may want to visit their social media pages first when planning a visit. As of the latest reports, detailed five years ago, the establishment has yet to respond publicly regarding any changes to their offerings or decor.

Overall the sausages? Lemon Sausage a Squid Ink Sausage and two other what seemed more like taiwanese sausages, not German, Some less than appetising Ham Hock, two Ikea Meatballs? all tepid to the touch (not very hot) Sauerkraut as good as expected from a jar, and Tinnned potatos in Gravy (quite pleasant).
Without looking at the FB page before arriving i was disappointed there was not allot of german food on offer Mainly Pasta? not even german Pasta Italian pasta, No Schnitzel, no Jäger sauce, no Remoulade/Mayonnaise! Not even a beef Stew.
For me i would have love to have seen a Curry Wurst Pommes Mit ROT WEISS even just a Jäger schnitzel (which others when we were there were also asking for)
Overall a pleasant atmosphere, VERY nice staff, but i wouldn't recommend it for German food the Beer YES but food NO.
Also i would suggest taking the Xmas Decorations down it is July!!
