If I could give zero stars, I would. I honestly don’t know how a fast-food restaurant gets to the point where waiting 22 minutes for ONE item becomes normal, but somehow this Sonic has managed to make it routine. The biggest problem isn’t even that the food takes too long. It’s the complete lack of urgency, customer service, and respect for the people who are actually keeping the business running. DoorDash drivers seem to be treated like an inconvenience rather than a service that customers are actively using to order from your restaurant. I have personally witnessed situations where drivers have been waiting, only to watch orders for people who arrived afterward get made first. That is not how you build a relationship with the delivery services that bring you business. And when disagreements happen, the answer apparently isn’t to fix the problem — it’s to ban or trespass drivers. If multiple DoorDash drivers are having problems with the same restaurant, maybe the question shouldn’t always be, “What’s wrong with these drivers?” Maybe it’s time to ask, “Why are we repeatedly having this problem?” And here’s the part that really gets me: this isn’t just a DoorDash problem. Regular customers are waiting ridiculous amounts of time, too. So this isn’t about one delivery service. It’s about the overall operation of the restaurant. A business can have a bad day. A restaurant can get slammed. Equipment breaks. Employees get overwhelmed. I understand all of that. What I don’t understand is allowing poor service to become the standard and then treating the customers and delivery drivers who complain about it as though THEY are the problem. A business owner doesn’t have to agree with every complaint. But when your restaurant consistently has customers waiting far too long, delivery drivers frustrated enough to stop accepting orders, and a reputation that reflects exactly those problems, maybe it’s time to stop defending the operation and start fixing it. DoorDash drivers are not the enemy. They are providing a service to your customers and, ultimately, bringing orders and revenue to your restaurant. You don’t bite the hand that’s feeding you. And if the people running the restaurant are going to interact with customers and delivery drivers, professionalism matters. You don’t get to use your position behind the counter as an excuse to speak to people however you want. Every interaction becomes part of the reputation of the business. There is clearly something wrong here. I’m not writing this because I expect perfection. I’m writing it because I would genuinely like to see this Sonic do better. Train your staff. Fix the communication. Respect the delivery drivers. Respect the customers. Get the orders moving. And stop treating legitimate complaints like personal attacks. Because at the end of the day, customers have choices. And if your response to a customer telling you that something is wrong is to argue with them instead of fixing it, eventually they’re going to exercise that choice. Do better. Seriously. Your customers deserve it, your delivery drivers deserve it, and frankly, this community deserves a better-run restaurant. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
