We loved everything about this restaurant. It's in a great location that is walkable from our hotel. The old building is beautiful. The service is excellent and the food was delicious. Tru corn bread muffins with honey butter! We enjoyed the shrimp and grits as well as the Fried Chicken Blue plate. Here we go again. Like I’ve said, I only write reviews so restaurants can do better. After talking with three of the people who work there, the shrimp and grits was unanimous. Only difference I asked for it to go. When I go to my destination to eat, the food was entirely wrapped in aluminum foil and cooked mostly in gravy, which was over whelming. What little grits was on the other side of the foil. I will say. There was tons of sausage and shrimp but way over seasoned. Hmm next time on the menu call it the sausage gravy and shrimp soup with load of salt and pepper. That would be an accurate statement. Oh I need something funny to say. Remember when Texas beat Alabama several years ago and downtown Athens partied harder than Texas did. Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30 Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

I am attending a conference in Athens, Ga. The man at the front desk of the hotel recommended this restaurant, and it did not disappoint! The salmon was perfectly cooked and the sides were yummy, too. I cleaned my plate! The servers were friendly and helpful - everyone there seemed to smile . . . all in all, a most wonderful dining experience. Wish i lived here so i could return soon to the South Kitchen + Bar!
