“Born of Fire” is a bold name for a jollof rice that tastes like the fire went out hours ago. The rice was dry, tired, and had all the characteristics of something cooked well in advance and reheated.Jollof should be rich, smoky, aromatic, and packed with layers of tomato, pepper, spice, and seasoning. This was flat and completely lacking that depth. The biggest disappointment is that jollof is supposed to have soul. You should taste the fire, the spice, the slow developed flavors. Instead, this tasted like yesterday’s rice given another trip through the microwave. If you’re going to call a dish “Born of Fire,” it needs to arrive tasting like it actually met the fire. Sovereign never fails. Steaks are great, salmon is tasty and the chicken is always nice and crispy. Order type: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $50–60
