I was recommended here by a neighbour after I just moved to the area and wasn't disappointed. It has the look and feel of a friendly local pub and locals use it. As for the food, it was better than some more expensive and pretentious restaurants I've been to, so I went back again. I feel as if they take pride in the food and the waitress was knowledgeable about what to suggest. There wasn't one favourite thing about the meal, as it was all good, from the fish, sauce, to the vegetables being cooked just right. I liked how the vegetables were included with the meal, as when we went to Rick Stein in the past, they charged £7 just for some broccoli, but vegetables at The Stag were a mixed variety. My partner had some extra port and stilton sauce meant for steak which I tried, and even that was really nice too. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We had won a voucher for a Sunday roast at a local summer fete and it was our first time going to the Stag Inn. The service couldn't be faulted, all the members of staff were so friendly and welcoming. The food itself was delicious - would especially recommend the roast beef. It was particularly helpful for us that they still had the general children's menu available on the Sunday for our fussy toddler. The deserts were fantastic too! We can't wait to come back. We had an truly wonderful meal. I would recommend the house pork scratchings for an aperitif but dont go to mad as portions are generous. Staff are friendly and accommodating that lends to the overall satisfaction. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: £30–40
