Ordered a venti caramel ribbon crunch lactose free with whip and extra shot of frapp roast and another tall caramel ribbon crunch cream base. I repeated my self 3 times over speaker. When I got to the window she said nothing at first, not very pleasant. Just handed me the machine. She began to hand me the straws and I asked if I could have the large straws, no problem but then she brings the drink to the window and the venti was a grande. And she tries telling me that that I said Grande, in fact I was on the phone and they also heard me said VENTI, there was no apologies or anything she just said " oh I only charged you for a grande" she was very monotone, no happiness in her voice what so ever. I have seen her at a couple different locations. It actually puts a downer on me when seeing her cause it puts a damper on my day. I thought Starbucks employee are suppose to be pleasant... Also instead of offering to make the size I order she just said it would take a while if I wanted another size... very disappointed. To add to it, it was not lactose free milk as it irritated my stomach and have been in horrible pain all afternoon. And it's not from the whipcream as it's only the milk that seems to trigger me.

I have been in coffee shops in more than 20 countries in the world. I have lived in New York most of my life, now live in Canada, and in both the USA and Canada have been getting Starbucks coffee a few times every week – today, was the first time I was charged for an extra splash of milk. I have never ever been charged before for ordering extra / double milk. Today, this Starbucks location charged me 50c for asking for extra milk in my coffee (which is 17% more on top of the $3 small coffee). I was told that asking for extra milk is no longer ‘just a coffee’ - it is a ‘coffee misto’ (or something like that). The barista told me that the manager said that since it is with an extra splash milk, they have to start charging me for the extra milk. I have never heard of any such charge in any coffee shop. Keep in mind I am not ordering a latte - I am asking for an extra tiny splash of milk. Historically, pre-Covid, Starbucks kept their milk out on the counter, so customers could put as much milk as they wanted in their coffee, and today they charged me for literally a tiny splash of milk. I am not sure if the manager of this branch is confused or if this is a new company-wide policy. If this is a company-wide policy, I would like to say, ‘Shame on you Starbucks - you used to be a pinnacle of American Coffee, and today you are a disgrace.’ Please note this is not a negative review of the employees in this location – they are usually very smiley and wonderful. They told me the manager said they need to be charging for extra milk, so I will be escalating this to Starbucks Corporate to understand when this new policy came into effect.
