If you’re looking for the ultimate spot for a "proper" Chinese family dinner in Penang, Starview Restaurant at New World Park is basically the gold standard. This place is legend status wei—if you grew up in Penang, chances are your parents or grandparents had a wedding or birthday feast here. The first thing you need to know: it’s not your average zi char stall. It’s got that classic, grand Chinese restaurant vibe with big round tables and white tablecloths. Perfect for when you want to feel a bit atas but still want that authentic taste. The star of the show? Their Signature Peking Duck. Walao, the skin is so crispy and thin, you wrap it in the pancake with the sweet sauce... chef’s kiss! And the best part is they’ll take the leftover meat and cook it with noodles or ginger—don't membazir, it’s bapak delicious! Another must-order is their Fish Steamboat. The broth is super rich and milky, packed with deep-fried fish pieces that soak up all that umami goodness. Service-wise, the aunties and uncles there are super laju (fast) and efficient, though they can be quite "direct" when it’s full house. Be warned ah, during CNY or wedding season, this place is packed like sardines, so you must book early. Price-point is a bit higher, but for the quality and the portion, it’s worth the splurge for a special occasion. Overall, 9/10 for consistency. It’s the kind of place where the food tastes exactly the same as it did 10 years ago. Solid! Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: RM 60–80
