I want to like Steel & Rye, but the lack of consistency is tough to wrap my head around. No croissants or morning buns - arguably their most popular items - at 8am on a Sunday, right when they open - likely their busiest day of the week? When they’re clicking, it’s great, but often feels like you never know what you’re going to get (or not get)…I understand running out later in the day but this was literally first thing. What bothered me was the staff was quick to say “we weren’t given much information”. That’s a bad look on the business! The staff knew this would be an issue, and they’re the ones who have to deal with disappointed customers - at least arm them with some sort of response e.g. an issue with the oven, or they’ll be ready in an hour, etc. It’s also not the first time that they’re randomly out of things early. Also the sign said bacon and cheddar scone but it was a garlic and dill scone - still good, but again, lack of consistency / attention to detail.

Hello Joseph. I am sorry to hear that you most recent experience was so frustrating. I would love to connect and give some more context about our croissants and morning buns (which are on a brief seasonal hiatus for the late summer season - but they will be back!) & would love to send you a gift card to use towards your next visit as an apology. I can be reached directly at the restaurant or via email meaghan@steelandrye.com. I hope to hear from you soon!
