We were delighted to see that the Stratford Gourmet Club had resumed lunch service.  The lunch service is on Tuesday and Wednesday at 11:00 AM.  They serve a complete buffet lunch for $15.00.  This week was an Italian Buffet.  Our servers were Sean and William, both students in the culinary field.  They took excellent care of us. The dining room is light and airy.  They ran a video of famous sights in Italy.   Today, we were treated to all things Italian.  The buffet had a Caprese Salad (Roma tomato, fresh Mozzarella cheese & basil leaves) and a Panzanella Salad (bread, tomatoes and mushrooms marinated in a red wine vinaigrette).  What a delicious way to start our Italian Pranzo (lunch)! The entrees included Chicken Breast Cutlet Saltimbocca alla Marsala (sautéed chicken breast with provolone cheese, prosciutto ham, sage with a Marsala wine sauce), Mussels Marinara in a red wine tomato sauce, Fettucine Carbonara (fresh fettucine served with pancetta, fresh peas & parmesan cheese),  and Flounder Picatta (egg battered flounder fillet in a caper lemon butter sauce).  For our Contorni (sides), they had Arancini (fried Arborio rice & cheese balls with Marinara sauce), and Grilled Summer Squash (grilled zucchini, yellow squash and eggplant).  Nothing is better than a sweet ending to a delicious meal. We savored the Tiramisu and the Chocolate Saucisson.  Oh my, we were in heaven!

What a fun time we had at The Classroom Restaurant which is a restaurant located within the Stratford University Culinary School.  There were 9 people in our party. The student-chefs are in training for their professional careers.  The student-chefs get the opportunity to show off their culinary skills and the customers benefit with a scrumptious 3 course dinner.  Our sincere compliments to the Culinary School, we were all thrilled with our dinners and our service.  Tonya and Maurice were so upbeat, friendly and attentive. They really enhanced our dining experience. It was great to be a part of the students' learning experiences.  The appetizer course had 3 choices:  Gravlax over Potato Pancake, Potage Crecy (a creamy French carrot soup) and Fried Shrimp Spring Rolls.  The Main Course also offered 3 choices:  Boiled Beef Brisket, Supreme of Chicken "Waikiki" and Wild Mushroom Ragu.  There were two choices for dessert:  Bitter and White Chocolate Torte and a Warm Caramelized Custard Cake.  Our group started with the Gravlax and the Spring Rolls. The Shrimp Rolls needed something else on the plate to make it more eye pleasing; however, both choices were really good.  It seems that our group also liked the Boiled Brisket of Beef and the Chicken "Waikiki".  Both choices were delicious.  The food was beautifully prepared and presented.  They offer lunches one month and dinner the next month usually on a Tuesday and a Wednesday.  Currently, the lunch cost is $12.00 per person and the dinner cost is $15.00 per person.  You can BYOB if you like.  They also do a Grand Buffet for $20.00.  Reservations are a must - call the school to find out more information.
