As I promised myself to search for the best Japanese restaurant in the Metro, we stumbled upon an underrated, small, and humble Sumo Sam which gives its customers a big treat. Even though they are operating in Ph for years already, it is my very first time to dine in Sumo Sam. To my surprise, they weren't that bad! I ordered Gyudon, ebi tempura and ebi fry, while my family ordered chicken teriyaki, sizzling beef, some noodles and katsudon.

I love the gyudon yet I find the mushrooms too many for the meal. For both the ebi tempura and fry, it could've been better and crunchier. My dad was overwhelmed by the serving of the katsudon for it came with a big bowl as well as my mom's noodles.

Overall, I will give a 4.5 for their service (very friendly) and the amount of serving is quite satisfying. Their price is reasonable enough for 1700-2000 for a family of five. I will definitely come back for more.

We eat here frequently and for every single time we do, service becomes worse. Finally had it, when we ate here and ordered beef teppan, the meat they used was so bad. Don't order the ramen either!!!

Quality of food and service should go hand in hand. Sadly, service was poor last night. They double checked our orders but they still forgot to serve several dishes.
