The decor is very fitting and cute although the lighting was way too low. Our server told us each dish is meant to be shared so we ordered a lot. Because they are sharables we were told that each item was going to come out individually as it gets made and not all at once, which was perfectly fine. For drinks we got a lychee simoy cocktail and the espresso martini flight. The lychee was very refreshing but the espresso martini flavors all blended together. The only distinguishing taste from the martinis was the chilli. The miso cauliflower was good but nothing special. We really liked the tuna truffle pizza, island Maki roll, spicy tail of two tunas, and the bulgogi tacos. The truffle pizza was the best out of all of them. The beef lollipops were basically thin kebabs molded around a vegetable root and were very dry. You needed to drown it in the glaze it came with to eat it. The sechuan chicken was very dry as well and just did not do well compared to everything else we ordered. It also was a lot of food in that single dish whereas the others had a good portioning between us. The crispy rice tuna wasnt bad but it wasn't really impressive. Just plain. The Sunda Sundae was also kind of dissapointing. It was beautiful in it's plating but too much going on as well as a very odd smell coming from it that made it hard to eat. The description made it seem like there was shaved ice AND ice cream in it but it was entirely shaved ice. We thought it would have been better as an ice cream. Another server walking by saw us struggling to eat the sundae out of the small bowl it was sitting in and poured it into a larger bowl for us that he said our original server should have done for us. Overall, it was a fun experience but was kinda disappointed with the menu. Price per person: $70–80 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

A Beautiful Addition to Detroit Dining We had an amazing experience at Sunda New Asian. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was beautiful. The décor is stunning — from the ceiling details to the countertops — everything feels thoughtfully designed and creates a great atmosphere. We sat at the bar, and the bartenders Jessica and Niranjana were both very pleasant and friendly. They made the experience even better and were attentive throughout the evening. What really stood out was the level of service. Each staff member who brought out a dish took the time to explain what it was and how the chef recommends eating it, which made the experience feel special and interactive. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We had a mocktail (a virgin Tom Collins topped with San Pellegrino), oxtail potstickers, Brussels sprouts, chicken inasal, crazy rice, and the bulgogi tacos — every dish was packed with flavor and beautifully prepared. The portion sizes are great as well. We shared everything and still had enough to take home. For dessert we tried a traditional Filipino cake (bibingka) with sweet potato butter wrapped in a banana leaf, and it was incredible. The staff checked on us often and made sure we had everything we needed. We also want to recognize Manager Devin, who showed excellent customer service and did a remarkable job ensuring our entire experience was great. This is the perfect place for a date night or for anyone looking to try something new in Detroit. We will definitely be coming back! Highly recommend. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
