Brittani and I were in Playa Grande visiting my daughter Ashley and ended up going to Surf Dog twice—which pretty much says it all. We loved it. The vibe is exactly what you want in a beach town: super casual, relaxed, and fun, with live music that makes you want to stick around longer than planned. It’s the kind of place where you can kick back, enjoy yourself, and not feel rushed at all. Food-wise, everything we tried hit the mark. The Diablo burger was excellent—packed with flavor and just the right amount of kick. The nachos are definitely worth ordering too, perfect for sharing (or not). And the jalapeño margarita? Outstanding. One of the best we’ve had. The wait staff was friendly, attentive, and added to the overall great experience. Prices are reasonable by Costa Rica standards—which, let’s be honest, still means a bit pricey—but totally worth it for the quality, atmosphere, and consistency.
