Disappointing experience, but with potential We visited around 11 PM on a Friday night (Dec 26), hoping to enjoy a warm bowl of ramen or miso soup on a cold evening. The place looks inviting and has a great location along Tahlia Street, yet surprisingly, there were no other diners at the time. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t live up to expectations. We ended up leaving with half-consumed ramen and two bowls of miso soup that we simply couldn’t finish. I ordered my all-time favorite miso soup and was excited for the first sip, but it turned out to be extremely salty. I politely asked the staff if I could share my feedback with the chef. Although I was initially hesitant, they encouraged me to do so. When I spoke to him, instead of discussing the concern, the conversation shifted to his background and experience in Japanese cuisine. While I respect expertise, I was hoping for a more open and customer-focused response. His body language also felt quite closed, which made the exchange uncomfortable. To his credit, he kindly offered to prepare another bowl of miso soup. Despite my doubts, I accepted. Sadly, the second bowl was still very salty and came without wakame seaweed — just white soup with tofu. When I asked about it, I was told, “It’s not wakame soup, it’s miso soup,” and that the recipe follows franchise standards. However, kitchen staff later mentioned that the recipe had been adjusted by the chef, and they themselves agreed that the soup served was too salty. What stood out most was that while this restaurant was empty, nearby places like Baitoti were full of happy diners. That contrast says a lot. I truly believe this place is worth saving. The location is excellent, and the concept has potential. But to keep up with the competition, more attention is needed on consistency, taste, and especially how customer feedback is received. A more open, humble approach would go a long way. I hope Sushi Sushi takes this as constructive feedback and improves — it would be great to see this spot thrive rather than fade into history.
