After visiting Takarakuji Dream Palace, you may have a meal at this restaurant. Come here for nicely cooked nigiri, sashimi and tuna if you are hungry. In late evening, we were in the area, looking for food, and I found this. Word of warning: The restaurant is very expensive. Be ready to spend over 10’000¥ per person. There wasn’t a specific menu that evening. There were only three options, “A”, “B”, and “C”, small to large. They were unspecific (“two appetizers”, “one grilled meal”, “seven nigiri”, “one small dessert”, to list a few examples from menu B), because the exact details depend on the season (which fish they use, for example, I suppose). The restaurant was very pleasant, the atmosphere was very good. The service was amazing. Though the man didn’t speak much English, barely any, he attempted to speak to us, and we used Google Translate and similar methods to communicate. He also explained the meals and how to eat them (“salt and wasabi here”, “this with wasabi and soy sauce”), and showed us which fishes we were eating, using a book which had both the English and Japanese names for the fishes. The food was amazing, and of good quality, though not really my type. Majority (by far) of the seafood was raw of the food he served us that day. It was very chewy (by my standards) - he served us a plate of raw fish pieces as one course. But it was very enjoyable, particularly the fact that I can tell people that I ate raw octopus in Japan. It was an unforgettable experience I enjoyed it very much. It was worth every last yen, I’d say - I wasn’t the one paying, thankfully. Price per person: ¥10,000+ Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

A very lovely omakase course, from an incredibly friendly sushi chef and team. I walked in on my own, without a reservation, and they were pleased to have me (not always the case for omakase around Tokyo). They don’t have much printed in English, but don’t be intimidated, just ask - they are eager to help. I’m a seasoned sushi lover, and there were a few new things served to me. Every bite was perfect. The tuna marinated in their 20-year old “secret sauce” was heavenly. (I know that description might raise some eyebrows, but trust me!) I have been to Sushi Tozan on two occasions now and both have been wonderful experiences. All the food was incredible and the staff, despite not speaking English, put in a lot of time and effort to make me feel welcome. I would recommend a booking as it was booked out both nights I attended. I loved coming here and I'm looking forward to returning!
