Come here for a drink after a long walk around Bryant and may factory. Japanese cuisine is what this cafe boasts. Do not go away without enjoying nicely cooked oysters, fried chicken and egg noodles. It was busy on a weekend when I arrived just before 11am. They were still serving the breakfast menu (8am to 11:30am) so I ordered a drink in the meantime until the lunch menu was available. I tried the iced filter coffee which was light and smooth, topped with a sweet and mildly savoury white chocolate miso cream which was interesting but worked well. For food, I had the following from the lunch menu: - Age onigiri; texture was good as the rice was crispy outside while maintaining softness inside. The curry leek filling had a spice flavour resembling curry puff - Salmon belly & mentaiko rappu; it is a sushi handroll wrapped with nori seaweed. The salmon belly with spicy cod roe and salmon roe was fresh and creamy with a burst of savoury umami - Fish burger meal; the fish filet was pretty big with a light crispy beer batter coating and the milk bun was very soft and fluffy. The classic combination of cheese, sweet pickle and tartare sauce worked well together; a very solid fish burger. The side of slaw had a hint of yuzu scent and a bit of heat from the chilli powder; and the fries were crispy but just a little over salted for my preference - Fried egg sando; their signature egg sando is a one of a kind; rich and flavour packed from the sweet and savoury combination of the curry ketchup and the black garlic relish. The thin layer of panko coating was crispy and the egg was silky smooth, resembling a Japanese savoury egg custard. The shokupan was sweet and buttery, toasted with a light crunch Overall it was a tasty and satisfying meal with friendly service from the staff, and the food arrived pretty fast once the order has been placed.

If you’re missing Japan in Melbourne then make sure to check this place out! They have takeaway snacks and drinks in the shop area including freshly made onigiri. You can also dine in and order food and drinks from their kitchen. Highly recommend ordering the suupaachiki which is their take on the iconic family mart fried chicken. It was super juicy and paired well with the habanero hot sauce. I also really enjoyed the iced matcha with milo. Meal type: Brunch Price per person: $20–40
