I came across Syut Syut while wandering around Sham Shui Po looking for somewhere to cool down and spend a few hours on my laptop in the February heat. My first impression was how genuinely friendly everyone was. As I approached the entrance, someone kindly stepped forward to open the door for me. After checking that it was okay to stay and work on my laptop, I grabbed a seat by the door. The shop is surprisingly spacious, with plenty of seating inside and some outdoor tables as well. The outdoor area is fine when the weather is pleasant, though being on an industrial street means the view is mostly parked cars and trucks. The menu is quite creative. I ordered an Espresso Tonic and a Black Sesame Panna Cotta for $87. The panna cotta arrived quickly and was very smooth and tasty, with a rich milky flavour. Personally, I would have loved a slightly stronger, more bitter black sesame note, but I still happily finished it. The Espresso Tonic was beautifully presented, with the espresso layered neatly on top. When I took a sip, I caught a hint of lemongrass. Curious, I asked the staff and learned they had added their own twist to the drink. I used to dislike the aroma of lemongrass, but my tastes have changed over time, so while it was not exactly my favourite scent, I really appreciated the creativity. I ended up staying for a few productive hours and later ordered another iced black americano for $41, which was also very enjoyable. The cafe is very laptop friendly. I did not notice customer wifi during my visit, but the mobile signal was strong enough for me to use my phone hotspot without issues. There is a self service water station and the toilets were clean. I also spotted a few board games near the counter, which adds a nice relaxed, neighbourhood feel. It seems like a great place to hang out with friends as well. Sham Shui Po has no shortage of cafes, so competition is fierce. Even so, Syut Syut stands out for its warmth and welcoming service. Definitely a lovely spot to visit in the area. Meal type: Other Price per person: HK$100–150 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
