Average meal at Tasca Easingwold which is a shame. We had booked in advance a table for 2 and upon arrival were seated in front of the toilets which had the doors constantly open so not pleasant. These are clearly the worst seats in the house so diners in parties of two should try and avoid. A real shame as you can imagine the sounds etc of the loo are not a great way to enjoy your birthday dinner. Did ask to move but told nowhere else available, despite fact tables were turning over fairly consistently so could have swapped out. Food comes at different times which is okay but has no real rhythm to it eg our broccoli side came out when we had ate everything else? Halloumi was good, as surprisingly was the pork. The goan curry is quite a thin sauce with no body to it, and the famed chicken thighs are okay but need the sauce for flavour which is an up charge per sauce. The real disappointment was the handsomely priced sirloin to share which is allegedly a 6oz piece. Ours came with a sauce that was basically a brown sludge puddle that had never met chimmichurri and didn’t taste like it. It doesn’t resemble any I’ve ever seen on a Tasca plate. It tasted almost like banana? We queried the difference with the waitress and she said it was normal to her but had been chopped up finer. The only way I could see this colour and profile on some chimmichuri is if something was added to make it that colour or it was very old, but being as it’s easy to make and meant to be fresh it was a mystery. And despite telling them it wasn’t quite right there was no consideration of maybe even knocking a fiver off or something. Overall our meal for 2 lasted just over 50 mins, cost 110 quid (because there is a discretionary service charge so the base price was 97 quid even) and the main event wasn’t great and the table was not good. A really average meal and there are other places that will give you more consistency and value for money. The price is very high for what and where this is. I would never leave a local place a bang average review but it felt terrible VFM. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £50–60 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
