A Huge Disappointment! My family and I chose this restaurant for a special Christmas Eve dinner, expecting the refined, detail-oriented experience we had seen advertised online. Unfortunately, the evening was a disaster from start to finish, falling far below the standards associated with the Kempinski name. Despite having a reservation, we arrived to find a completely empty restaurant—there wasn't a waiter in sight. After waiting for over 10 minutes, a waiter from the lounge across the hall finally noticed us and helped us to a table. Even then, we had to wait an additional period before any actual restaurant staff appeared. The presentation of the food was shockingly basic for a "refined" establishment. * The mixed fried platter looked like something from a casual diner—just a heap of fried fish and vegetables with zero garnish or care. * My mother and I ordered the fish, which arrived as a plain plate with a "blob" of lentil risotto. The taste was mediocre at best. * My father ordered the Japanese beef tataki. It was served as well-done beef with mashed potatoes and vegetables. When we pointed out that tataki is traditionally seared/raw and that this looked like the Italian beef dish on the menu (which states is served with mash), the chef came out. Instead of apologising, he condescendingly insisted that "this is how they serve tataki." The service issues peaked when we ordered sparkling wine. Our first choice was unavailable, so the waiter suggested an alternative. We specifically asked if it was the same price; he confirmed it was. When the bill arrived, the bottle was double the price. The waiter admitted he was wrong but incredibly told us "there is nothing I can do" because we had already finished the bottle. It took over 20 minutes of exhausting discussion before they finally agreed to a discount to honor the price we were originally told. The entire evening felt like the staff and kitchen were improvising (another example: waiter poured warm sparkling wine in a wine glass almost to the top).
